The Number 1 Facebook Mistake
It's Chis Lynton here from Tribefit.co and today I want to take you through the number one reason fitness businesses fail when using Facebook advertising. Now, first and foremost, it's important to know, it's pretty obvious, Facebook is a business; a very, very profitable business and a very large and successful business. The way they make money and the way they make so much money today is by making people want to use their advertising and taking their dollars as fast and as easily and as profitably as possible. So, don't think Facebook is your friend. Don't think Facebook is optimising things for you. You need to not use presets and you need to learn how to use it yourself.
Every fitness business we work with, whether that person is looking to get more clients, sell more of a some type of information product or any of the above, Facebook is the number one advertising channel for doing this. If you do not master Facebook, your fitness business will never grow to the scale you want it to be and you'll never be successful as you want to be.
So, as long as you avoid these simple traps on Facebook, you'd be heading in the right direction. So, as I mentioned, the number one reason fitness businesses fail on Facebook advertising is because Facebook wants you to spend all your money with them and they don't care if you get a great result or not. Then, they want to make it look like you're getting good result and that's why they always show you how much reach you've got, how many likes you've got, how much engagement you've got and all the presets that they've build in, when people simply go in and just press boost is to show everyone; the world, male, female, all ages, all different geographical locations when you maybe looking to target a specific type of person.
Before getting into Facebook, make sure you know who you'd be trying to target for your products or services as to say, for example, that's a female twenty to twenty-five in the Sydney region, then you know who you want to target. Do not advertise or target people outside of that, otherwise, every single dollar you spend is wasted. Facebook has all its presets set-up that if you go in and you post something, you use press boost for example, which ninety-five percent of fitness businesses that we work with, that is what they do. It will show the males, it will show the females, it will show the people; forty, sixty, eighty, eighteen, whatever it might be and it will show people all around the world.
Someone in, for example, South America who's a female and seventy years old is not going to be interested in your twenty to twenty-five female Sydney-based product, service or business. It's an absolute waste of money, absolute waste of time and that is the number one reason why most people say, 'I've tried Facebook, it doesn't work for me. All I do is waste money.' It is because you're doing it on a too simple format and you're thinking Facebook will just help you achieve the results you want. It won't -- All the presets need to be tweaked when you're doing advertising. You need to know who your target is. First and foremost, like I mentioned, find out who you're targeting.
Next, if you just start out on Facebook, don't just click boost. Make sure you go in and you amend the presets and you'll only have the presets to show people that are within your target market. Otherwise, it's an absolute waste of money. Then thereafter, ideally, what you're going to do is put in place the right tracking systems. It's called a Smart Pixel for Facebook and what that allows you to do is know exactly which ads are working. The amount of businesses that we work with that are very successful in business, they use Facebook, they spend thousands of thousands of dollars every month, or tens of thousands of dollars some of them, and don't know which ads are actually turning into sales, leads, customers, etc. That is the reason why those businesses never reach the potential they should reach.
So, if you don't know how to do the tracking, that sort of thing can get a little bit technical, I suggest speaking to someone or reach out to us at Tribefit and we can help you with that. But once you have the tracking in place, then you'll be able to go, 'Okay, I've done ten ads. This one ad is something of a killer and it's outperforming everything else. I'm gonna turn off the nine and put all my money and focuses behind that one.' and that will take your business to the next level.
So tracking, pulling back the presets in terms of who your actual target market is and making sure that you think about it before, rather than just putting up a post about anything and pressing boost. Think about what that target audience would want to see, would potentially convert them. Make sure you put that type of content up or message up. Make sure when you go to advertise, you're tweaking the presets, making sure you're only showing to the people that are of interest for you and make sure, you have your tracking in place.
If you have all those things in place, you'll be much more successful as Facebook. Of course, there's much more advanced techniques and things that you can use to try and get even better result, but if you go from just pressing boost to doing those three things that I just talked about, you'll have a much more successful, much more profitable business and a much more, larger chance of scaling and taking everything to the next level.
So, hopefully, those three tips have helped you today. Make sure you put them into your business next time when you're looking to advertise anything on Facebook and you'll have much more success.
That's all for me. Bye for now.
